As part of the McAfee SECURE certification, ecommerce merchants were able to offer free identity protection coverage to their customers. After launching this product initially, the company received feedback from merchants that their customers did not sign up for the coverage because they didn’t fully understand it.

To ensure that this product would be a success, I was tasked with creating a video that would explain how to activate the coverage and highlight it’s key benefits to ensure more end-consumers would take advantage of this benefit. The video was included in key UX and marketing areas were customers would be likely to see it.

After launching the video, the company saw an large increase in the number of people signing up for the coverage. Being able to show this change to our merchant ensured that they continued to see the value and importance of the McAfee SECURE certification

SHOWING THE PROCESS

This video includes explaining the 3-step sign-up process. To make this work in a fast-paced video, using the same graphical and motion style for each step allows the viewer to anticipate the steps and follow them more easily.

FOOTAGE TWEAKS

To be consistent with the McAfee SECURE motion style, the video opens with real life footage before transitioning into the motion graphics world. To ensure that the footage feels fully integrated with the graphics, color grading the footage as well as rotoscoping the color of the shirt helped to create a more seamless transition.

SHOW ME THE UX

While incorporating UX mockups into fast-paced motion can be challenging, it can also help positively shape the viewers’ expectations. In this case, showing how the two different opt-in methods would appear to the customer IRL helps to conveys the simplicity of the process.
