Concept - Script - Design - Animation
When Halo Security (formerly known as TrustedSite Security) launched it’s attack surface management product, it quickly became clear that the entire idea of attack surface management was still relatively unfamiliar even to people in the cybersecurity industry. What better way to establish the company as an industry leader than to develop a non-promotional video that explains the concept in a clear, easy to understand way?
As part of the marketing team at parent company TrustedSite, I was responsible for the concept, script, art direction, and animation for this attack surface management explainer. The video features a fictional security practitioner Skylar to show the potential gaps of existing security strategies, as well as the different steps of this new approach to cybersecurity. Introducing a relatively technical and dry concept to a broad audience required a departure from the usual abstract and minimalist graphics of TrustedSite. During the conceptual phase it became clear that the most effective approach would be to ground the video with a fictional persona that viewers, especially those in the target demographic, could identify with and make them feel that Halo understood the challenges of their jobs.
Shortly after the release of this video, it organically placed in the top 3 results on YouTube. It has helped the company’s brand recognition tremendously with highly relevant, organic exposure. Beyond organic search traffic, it is used on Halo Security’s landing pages to not only help people understand the purpose of the product better but to build confidence in Halo Security as a critical player in the attack surface management field.
